Safety Tips for Skating

Skating has become a popular outdoor sport for young and adults. However, the accidents that might result associated with this new sport can be fatal. Here are some tips to avoid skate related accident:

  • When skating, protect yourself with elbow and knee guards, gloves and helmet.
  • Skate in areas designed for skates and avoid skating on sidewalks, highways and public squares.
  • Avoid dangerous acrobatics and skating on wet areas.
  • Never hold a moving vehicle to accelerate or to talk with the driver.
  • Follow traffic signs.
  • Avoid skating at night. If you do, wear bright and / or light reflecting colors.
  • Be cautious with pedestrians and drivers.
  • Do not use headphones while skating.
  • Always skate in the same direction as other skaters, what is known as "skating on parallel" or "on line".
  • Do not skate under the effect of alcohol and / or drugs.
