The
future generation of the Mercedes model, manufactured by Mercedes
Benz, will be equipped with an innovative safety feature, referred
herein as the "window bag". This airbag will provide additional
protection in case of lateral collision. The window bag increases
the protection in the head of the passengers and comes to complete
the effect of a lateral air bag, which is used at the present. It
consists of a bag of air of 2 meters long, 35 centimeters wide and
6 centimeters thick, that is fixed in the interior frame of the
roof, that extends from the back to the front column. In the case
of an accident, the window bag deploys at the same time that the
lateral air bag, covering the length of the space likes an inflating
curtain. The end result is that the head of the passengers wouldnt
hit the window, the transom or the frame of the roof. Furthermore,
because of its great size, it also protects the passengers in the
rear seat of the vehicle. The window bag also prevents glass or
other damaging objects from entering the vehicle in case of a lateral
collision or that the vehicle turns over, eliminating other sources
of damage. The window bag has nine compartments, that in case of
an accident, are filled in 25 thousandth of a second. The form and
size, with a total volume of 13 liters, has been specially designed
to protect all the passengers, no matter their height.
