VII. Class policies:
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory, as is active participation in all class activities. Students may have three absences before this directly affects their final grade. After this, final letter grades are lowered by one letter every subsequent absence.
Students who miss classes are still responsible for finding out and completing assignments on time.
Participation: Class participation involves being prepared before class, actively discussing, answering (or asking) questions, giving opinions, collaborating in peer reviews, etc. Simply being present is not the same as participating.
Late work: Work turned in late (without an accepted excuse) will lose 10% of the grade for every day late. Late assignments will not be accepted after 5 days. Email use: All students need to provide an accurate working email address. This will be used for communicating with the professor, who may send assignments, quizzes, materials, links, and related information by email. In addition, groups may need to use email [or perhaps blogs or wikis] for collaborative writing assignments in this class. Students are expected to check their email accounts regularly, and also when the professor announces in class that he will send something by email. In addition, as discussed in class (CYA J), you should always send yourself a copy of any assignment sent by email to your professor for reference in case of any confusion or dispute.
Computer access and use: Computers are available in many areas in Colegio, including Ch-112, Ch-325, the library, and your respective departments. It is your responsibility to make arrangements to use the Colegio's resources when necessary just as you do to access the regular library
Plagiarism: Plagiarism will result in an F on the particular assignment. Plagiarism occurring after the unit on plagiarism will result in an F in the entire course.
: English Department Grading Scale
A (90-100), B (80-89.9), C (70-79.9), D (65-69.9)
Perfect attendance and completion of all assignments does not guarantee a particular grade, but obviously, it improves your chances of getting an A or a B in the class.
